What was originally intended to be a temporary situation grew into something so much more.
When the Pandemic hit Vermont in the spring of 2020. Many fitness centers, including Martial Arts gyms and studios, closed down. It was a dark time for the Martial Arts world. Many gyms never reopened, and those that kept remote struggled for quite some time. Many groups would train in each other's garages in small social groups so as to contain the spread of any potential outbreak of Covid.
"I had struggled for some time during this period from training in Martial Arts for so long to all of a sudden just stop. In teaching kid's classes in my previous gym from Morrisville, I wanted to keep offering a class online, even if it was only once a week out of my living room. Five students consistently came online, and those 45 minutes were often times the highlight of my week and got me through the height of the Pandemic." -Adam
Eventually, once restrictions had eased, Adam would find a space to rent in Hardwick in July of 2021 to offer Kid's Jiu Jitsu while waiting for his old gym to reopen. Sadly, it never did. Over time, classes would begin to grow even more to where it outgrew its first rental space. The then "Jiu Jitsu in Hardwick" would move into GRACE "The Old Firehouse" and would change its name to the current "Martial Arts in Hardwick" when Karate began being offered in the beginning of October 2023.
Adam Beckley has been studying Martial Arts fully since 2006. Living in Rutland County, He got the opportunity to train in Aiki-Jitsu that summer of 2001.
